GCAB’s end of summer jam
On Friday Sept. 26, 2025 the Geneseo Campus Board of Activities (GCAB) hosted their annual End of Summer Jam from 5 PM to 7 PM. The event took place on the Union Patio, conveniently located at the center of campus. The weather looked kindly on GCAB as it was a perfect sunny afternoon filled with fun.
Things to do before Fall Break
As we approach the middle of the fall semester, students may start to feel a bit stir-crazy in their dorms. Before the momentary relief and relaxation we all get from the upcoming fall break Oct. 11 through Oct. 14, you may be wondering what to do around Geneseo before heading back home.
SUNY Geneseo’s Walter Harding Lecture 2025
On Sept. 24, 2025, SUNY Geneseo welcomed acclaimed eco-fiction author Jeff VanderMeer to the college for the annual installment of the Walter Harding lecture series. This discussion opened up to a wide ranging series of ecologically infused stories, life-learned lessons, and words of advice for aspiring writers.
Knights’ Harvest Pantry
The SUNY Geneseo campus pantry, Knights’ Harvest, is a student-run volunteer organization that has recently undergone several exciting changes. These include a new name, a new signature logo, and the adoption of a brand new official pantry software. These are all parts of an effort to elevate the organization and better support students experiencing food insecurity.
ASA Roll bounce is back
Back again for its fourth year, the ASA roll bounce has become an institution for both ASA and GLK. Centered on a checkered floor that serves as the rink, illuminated by UV lights that make your socks glow, and set to popular afrobeats, the roll bounce gives all Geneseo students the chance to go for a spin on some roller skates.
SUNY Geneseo’s radio station creates new student-led department
89.3 WGSU Geneseo’s Voice of the Valley— that’s the tagline of SUNY Geneseo’s campus radio station. WGSU was first licensed in 1963, introducing college radio to SUNY Geneseo and Livingston County.
Peace Action at Geneseo hosts Sun Day rally
This past Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025 at 1:00pm, Peace Action at SUNY Geneseo hosted a rally on Main Street at the Veteran Memorial Park as a part of a nationally celebrated day of action called Sun Day.

If you frequent the English department—as a major, minor, concentration, or just a friend of the department—there is a good chance you have heard the words “gandy dancer.” A quick Google search will inform you that it is defined as “slang term used for early railroad workers in the United States and Canada,” but for the writers, artists, and creatives of the SUNY system, it means more: an opportunity to publish their work statewide.
Dr. Elizabeth Anderson Visits Geneseo
Dr. Elizabeth Anderson, the designer and first director of the program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at the University of Michigan, came to Geneseo on Sept. 11, 2025 to Doty Recital Hall to present on “The Forgotten Political History of Utilitarianism.”
The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra to Play at National Warplane Museum
This Saturday, Sept. 20 2025, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra will be performing at the National Warplane Museum, located at 3489 Big Tree Lane at 5:00pm.

GCAB’s 2025 Hard Launch
One of SUNY Geneseo’s most popular on-campus planning organizations, the Geneseo Campus Activities Board, has put on many important events, including the famous annual Spring Fest. GCAB made their Fall 2025 debut with the event appropriately titled, “2025 Hard Launch,” which took place on Sept. 5th.

Kalash Kitchen Opens on Main Street
If you’ve ever walked down Main Street, you’ve probably seen the variety of local eateries Geneseo has to offer: Mamma Mia’s, Aunt Cookie’s, Bar-Eat-O to name a few. That’s a lot of diversity packed into a small street! Recently, however, you may have noticed the newly opened Greek restaurant, Kalash Kitchen.
The Annual Multicultural Cookout
On Sept. 4, 2025, SUNY Geneseo’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability, hosted its annual cookout, bringing together students, college staff, and the broader community to share good food, make lasting memories, and form connections— all while enjoying the temperamental weather.

As the semester approaches the end, it is time to feature the graduating seniors of our executive board (e-board). One of these is my very good friend, Nikolete Michalkow. She joined The Lamron in the 2024 Spring semester as one of two co-news editors and has been on the executive board ever since.
Invasion of Privacy: Managing Editor Kendall Cruise
The beating heart of The Lamron for the past two years has been senior Kendall Cruise. Beginning as the Opinion Editor in the Fall ‘23 semester, Cruise has dedicated endless hours, effort, and love to the newspaper. By Spring ‘24, Cruise was prepared and eager to step into the leadership role of Managing Editor and has helped ensure the smooth function of The Lamron for these past three semesters.
Senior Readings conclude
On Tuesday, Apr. 22, and Thursday, Apr. 24, students completing their English (creative writing) program completed the last series of Senior Readings. This is a format done by students in this program every spring semester, where graduating seniors (either for that spring or the upcoming fall semester) are allowed to showcase fiction, poetry, and/or creative nonfiction they have written for audiences to enjoy.
