On Friday Sept. 26, 2025 the Geneseo Campus Board of Activities (GCAB) hosted their annual End of Summer Jam from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The event took place on the Union Patio, conveniently located at the center of campus. The weather looked kindly on GCAB as it was a perfect sunny afternoon filled with fun.

The event first featured custom designed t-shirts that were free to the students, with the option to tie dye them. For best results, students could start with a wet t-shirt and swirl, squish, or bunch the shirt any way they choose, securing their creation with rubber bands.

After creating their unique shapes there was a wide variety of colors to choose from that were replenished throughout the event. Gloves were provided as well to students who wanted dye on their shirt, not their hands. Plastic bags were also available for students to safely transport their creations back home and rinse after an appropriate amount of time.

Bamboo shoots were also available to students, supplied with decorative rocks and glasses for them to create their own lucky bamboo plant. These plants only require water to thrive, no messy soil necessary, making them the perfect addition to any on-campus dorm room or off-campus apartment.

Two different tables were also set up for students to create their own bracelets. Whether for a friend or just for themselves, students could craft bracelets while connecting with other Geneseo students and making new friends.

I spoke with student, senior Griffin Lyons, as she crafted her own bracelet. She commented, “I just feel so connected to my Geneseo community – especially as a senior. I keep getting nostalgic, as the first time I ever tie dyed was with my first year friends. Now as a senior, I am doing it again, but I’m still really bad at it. But all in all I enjoyed the vibes and the people.”

GCAB also collaborated with the Yoga Club at Geneseo to provide free yoga sessions to students, even giving away free yoga mats to the first five students to arrive at the session. The yoga sessions were located next to the Title IX table, which provided free resources and information to students while also offering a chance to spin the wheel and win a prize.

While all of these activities took place, there was live music to keep the students engaged. The first performance came from Geneseo’s very own Southside Boys, an acapella group that has been on campus since 1991. They sang some fan favorites, including Rasputin by Boney M. and Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye. This semester the group welcomed ten brand new members, who are blending in perfectly within the group already.

They offered an engaging performance featuring different soloists for each song and giving a special shoutout to some of their seniors during the final song in their set. They also showcased a silly trick during the performance, having a volunteer scramble a Rubix cube and dazzling audience members by solving it!

The second musical performance came from the student band Emergency 54. Playing well-known hits and offering a combination of excellent musical skills and vocal flair, they provided a breathtaking performance. With a beautiful Geneseo sunset in the background, their songs provided a perfect closing to the event, and a wonderful end of summer.

The Geneseo Campus Activity Board works hard to provide events to students both on and off campus. Keep an eye out for future events by following GCAB’s Instagram at geneseocab. Rumors say, Fall Fest announcements will be coming soon!
