“ICE OUT OF GENESEO” concert
This past Friday, Feb. 27, local bands Clambo, Emergency 54, and Garden Club teamed up to perform a concert to benefit the Rochester Rapid Response Network (RRRN), a “Rochester-area mutual aid group formed to support immigrants facing detention and deportation,” according to the group. I saw four organizations at the event: RRRN, Genesee Valley Indivisible (GVI), ICE Out Geneseo, and Justice For Migrant Families (JFMF).
Ward Parker Jr.: Unwrapped
If you are a frequent flyer at the Asada Station in Mary Jemison dining hall like this member of The Lamron, then you may know Ward Parker Jr., an employee of Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS). Ward is a SUNY Geneseo alum who, after living an interesting life, came out of retirement to work in one of the college’s dining halls—though he first started at the dining hall in the MacVittie College Union, not at Mary Jemison.
Re-living memories and building a future at the Scholastic Book Fair
Growing up in the 2000’s was a time that the majority of college students look back on lovingly. One of the greatest collective memories of this era was the Scholastic Book Fair.

Have you ever wondered what you can do with a degree in history? The history department held a small panel of alumni, all of whom had graduated from their department and went on into the education field as teachers of various grade levels.
An evening of faith, fellowship, and fundraising
Last Saturday, Feb. 21, the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship chapter at SUNY Geneseo hosted a fundraising event to help raise awareness about sexual and domestic abuse. Approximately 25 participants gathered in the Hunt Room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. where they opened with a prayer, listened to worship music, and engaged with various crafts and activities.
The campus-wide effort behind Admitted Students Day
Each spring, the campus welcomes a new wave of visitors—students who have already been accepted to Geneseo and are now deciding whether or not to call it home. Admitted Students Day is designed for exactly that moment in the decision process; it gives admitted students and their families the opportunity to take a closer, more detailed look at what life here is actually like, beyond brochures and campus tours.
Mindful Yoga for Mental Health
Mindful Yoga for Mental Health, taught by Beth Cholette, takes place every Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Schrader studios. Beth is a licensed clinical psychologist and experienced registered yoga teacher. The class is open to anyone, student or staff. I first heard about this class during my orientation in the Fall 2024 semester, and I have been attending and practicing ever since!
Invasion of Privacy: Paige Loucks and Sonia Horowitz of Gandy Dancer
On the day of this issue’s publication, Feb. 20, the managing editing staff of the SUNY-wide literary journal Gandy Dancer are hosting their first ever open mic night in the Union’s fireside lounge from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Following the news that the magazine will now be accepting submissions of music to feature on the official Gandy Dancer website, this event offers Geneseo students the opportunity to share their poems, short stories, and, of course, their music.
Valentine’s Day card collection
Steuben Hall celebrated Valentine’s Day in a very fun and creative way. In the small lounge on Steuben’s fourth floor, RA Fischer hosted an activity that allowed students to decorate and personalize a bag with designs and messages of their choosing, and they could hang these bags on their doors so other students could put their Valentine’s cards in them.

For many admitted students, choosing a college feels both exciting and intimidating. Brochures, websites, and campus tours can offer helpful snapshots, but they rarely capture what daily life actually feels like. That is where the Knight for a Day program at SUNY Geneseo makes a difference.
A night of culture and cuisine: Chinese Club hosts annual dinner
On Friday Feb. 13, the Chinese Culture Club at Geneseo (CCCG) hosted their annual China Knight Dinner in the MacVittie College Union ballroom, which transformed an otherwise ordinary night into a celebration of tradition, culture, and cuisine. Guests gathered to enjoy a diverse array of performances complemented with traditional Chinese cuisine.

In the lobby of the MacVittie College Union on Feb. 9, Hips 'n Harmony held their annual carnation sale, drawing students in with colorful and vibrant flowers and bringing their familiar tradition back to campus.
Thinking together: Inside Geneseo’s Philosophy Club
On a campus filled with deadlines, rehearsals, and packed schedules, finding a space devoted purely to conversation and reflection can feel rare. Geneseo’s Philosophy Club offers exactly that: a welcoming environment where students and professors can come together to explore ideas, ask difficult questions, and think collectively—without the pressure of grades or expectations.
GLK and GFSC host a free ice skating event!
On Feb. 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Geneseo Late Knight (GLK) and the Geneseo Figure Skating Club (GFSC) collaborated to produce a memorable and joyful night of ice skating for students.
