Dr. Elizabeth Anderson, the designer and first director of the program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at the University of Michigan, came to Geneseo on Sept. 11, 2025 to Doty Recital Hall to present on “The Forgotten Political History of Utilitarianism.” 

This Saturday, Sept. 20 2025, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra will be performing at the National Warplane Museum, located at 3489 Big Tree Lane at 5:00pm.

Dr. Mackenzie Gerringer in collaboration with six SUNY Geneseo alumni and scientists from the University of Montana and the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa have recently discovered three new species of deep-sea fish.

One of SUNY Geneseo’s most popular on-campus planning organizations, the Geneseo Campus Activities Board, has put on many important events, including the famous annual Spring Fest. GCAB made their Fall 2025 debut with the event appropriately titled, “2025 Hard Launch,” which took place on Sept. 5th.  

Chances are that over the past few weeks, you’ve heard mention of the mysterious “Unicycle Guy” riding around campus. Maybe you even managed to catch a glimpse of him while walking to class or to the dining hall.

Did you know that SUNY Geneseo has a philosophy club?

If you’ve ever walked down Main Street, you’ve probably seen the variety of local eateries Geneseo has to offer: Mamma Mia’s, Aunt Cookie’s, Bar-Eat-O to name a few.  That’s a lot of diversity packed into a small street! Recently, however, you may have noticed the newly opened Greek restaurant, Kalash Kitchen. 

On Sept. 4, 2025, SUNY Geneseo’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability, hosted its annual cookout, bringing together students, college staff, and the broader community to share good food, make lasting memories, and form connections— all while enjoying the temperamental weather. 

As the semester approaches the end, it is time to feature the graduating seniors of our executive board (e-board). One of these is my very good friend, Nikolete Michalkow. She joined The Lamron in the 2024 Spring semester as one of two co-news editors and has been on the executive board ever since.

The beating heart of The Lamron for the past two years has been senior Kendall Cruise.  Beginning as the Opinion Editor in the Fall ‘23 semester, Cruise has dedicated endless hours, effort, and love to the newspaper. By Spring ‘24, Cruise was prepared and eager to step into the leadership role of Managing Editor and has helped ensure the smooth function of The Lamron for these past three semesters.

On Tuesday, Apr. 22, and Thursday, Apr. 24, students completing their English (creative writing) program completed the last series of Senior Readings. This is a format done by students in this program every spring semester, where graduating seniors (either for that spring or the upcoming fall semester) are allowed to showcase fiction, poetry, and/or creative nonfiction they have written for audiences to enjoy.

The Lamron’s Copy Editor, Abigail Cornelius, is a senior Anthropology major at SUNY Geneseo. When not doing classwork or editing The Lamron, Cornelius likes to spend her time crafting, reading “cheesy romance books,” playing The Sims 4, doing nail art, and hanging out with her puppy, Hazel, and boyfriend, Zephyr.

Sarah Bhasin, The Lamron’s Arts and Entertainment Editor, is a graduating communication and marketing double-major and the captain of Bhangra. Bhasin aspires to be in healthcare marketing. Among Bhasin’s many accomplishments at SUNY Geneseo, she shared her knowledge on getting through college as an involved student.

Though many people often complain about the small Geneseo campus, some unexpected perks come with such a tight-knit campus. One of these is the creation and support of Geneseo students forming bands and performing both on and off campus. A few of these student bands will be performing at the upcoming Springfest, making this the perfect time to learn about them. 

On Apr. 23, 2025, SUNY Geneseo celebrated its nineteenth annual GREAT Day.

On Tuesday, Apr. 15, 2025, the Creative Writing Department’s senior students continued their capstone celebrations of their hard work over the last four years with more Senior Readings. These readings occurred from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM in Doty 300, also known as the Tower Room, on Tuesday and Thursday throughout April.

At Geneseo, many students are unaware of the opportunities that are available to them. One of these is the honor societies at Geneseo, many of which are a part of a national chapter. Multiple opportunities are open to students of all majors, but what can be an even larger opportunity is the major-specific honor societies at Geneseo. 

On Apr. 9, 2025, the SUNY Geneseo campus and larger community had the pleasure of being visited by nationally acclaimed poet, editor, and professor Chen Chen.

On Tuesday, Apr. 8, Senior Readings for senior English (creative writing) students began a part of their process in endcapping their dedication to the Creative Writing Department, celebrating their work. These readings take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, in the Doty 300, also known as the Tower Room, through Apr. 24. 

Madison Brunn is a senior Sociology major at Geneseo and has been the Comic Editor for The Lamron since the Fall of 2024. They are also the owner of a lovely cat named Hashbrown.
