GREAT Day
GREAT Day, an acronym for Geneseo Recognizing Excellence, Achievement & Talent, is an annual celebration of the projects, research, and extracurricular activities that students have been up to over the past year. Students of all majors and interests hosted sessions or presented posters for their fellow students and staff, showcasing the opportunities available to them both academically and personally.
Invasion of Privacy: Professor Lytton Smith
“The answer is the students,” Professor Lytton Smith said when asked what he’s most proud of about the Geneseo Creative Writing department. “The ambition and the variety and the adventurousness of the students. And students is the wrong word, because you’re all writers. But you have to put in there that I’m inspired by it, although it’s not mine to be proud of, although I kind of am—does that make sense?”
Chosen family and creative liberation with POSE star Ryan Jamaal Swain
On Thursday, Apr. 7, actor and dancer Ryan Jamaal Swain served the role of Geneseo’s LGBTQ+ History Month Keynote Speaker and engaged in a dialogue, Q+A, and autograph session with Geneseo students and faculty. The vast majority of the dialogue was led by Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs for LGBTQ+ Life Charlotte Wade, with an open period for questions and photograph/autograph opportunities at the end of the event.
G-Spot: VOX and GLK sexy egg hunt event
This past Friday, Apr. 8, GLK (Geneseo Late Knight) hosted a sexy egg hunt sponsored by VOX (Voices for Planned Parenthood). The event started around 9 p.m. and was hosted in the MacVittie College Union.
Fire safety and fire checks
As we transition into spring, it is important to make sure that our dorms do not contain any fire hazards as fire safety checks begin. Invasion of Privacy: Emi Kanemoto
As famous Socrates once said, “The only thing I know is that I know nothing.” Emi Kanemoto stated that she encourages the students of SUNY Geneseo to adopt a similar mindset—to keep learning, reflecting and exploring yourself and your community. Kanemoto is a professor in the Department of Communication and is a Director of the LIVES program on campus.
Ramen Event!
Looking for a sense of belonging and new food? Look no further than the Community Garden Coalition! On Thursday, Mar. 31, the Coalition hosted a lovely ramen night in the Interfaith Center. The Garden Coalition provided free ramen to students from 6-8 p.m., and the food was delicious! The club also collected cash donations and canned goods to support the Geneseo food security advocates.

A wonderful Sunday wellness workshop hosted by Yoga Club
This past Sunday, Apr. 3, at noon the Yoga Club hosted a wellness workshop at the Interfaith Center, which consisted of a mixture of wellness teachings, asanas (yoga poses), and meditation. It was a wonderfully relaxing and informative experience. The club’s instructor, Lars, and student members of the Yoga Club led the group through the workshop.
