Digimon—an abbreviated title for “Digital Monsters”—is a brilliant franchise that has existed under the radar for far too long.

Of course, you can download a movie or show from your desired streaming platform, giving you the idea of ownership but do you actually own it? Do we truly own our digital copies?

Tron: Ares (2025) is Disney’s newest addition to the Tron franchise, a threequel, and soft reboot of the series. Directed by Joachim Rønning, this sequel to the film Tron: Legacy (2010) and the threequel to cult classic, Tron (1982), embraces its digital theme while elevating it with breathtaking visual artistry.

As SUNY Geneseo’s self proclaimed The Simpsons (1989- ) aficionado and number one fan—fermenting at length on the subject—the recent news of The Simpsons Movie II (2027) struck me as would a gust of menial wind; just another in a long line of inside jokes made by fans. However, as I have sat with this news, I have begun to see the potential this movie could bring to a series at large. 

In 2021, if you were to tell fans of the newly released The Suicide Squad (2021) that the defacto side-villain, whose caricature of toxic masculinity would grow to become one of the DC Universe’s (DCU) most beloved and respected characters no one would believe you.

On Oct. 3, 2025, Taylor Swift released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl (2025). Produced by Max Martin and Shellback, the same producers behind many of Swift’s other hits, including tracks from her 2014 breakout pop album, 1989 (2014), and the beloved Reputation (2017), released in 2017.

I recently began watching the show Girls (2012-2017) because a friend of mine told me the show was like if Sex and the City (1998-2004) was a little less annoying and a little more modern. I was immediately intrigued, as I stopped watching Sex and the City (1998-2004) in the past because everyone annoyed me so much. 

What is better than seeing a performance from the Geneseo Musical Theatre Department? Seeing the same show, twice, with a different cast!

Live entertainment is one of the most important parts of our culture. From concerts to musicals, it gives people the chance to step outside the digital world and experience talent in real time. Even so, for live entertainment fans in Western New York, the thrill of live performances often feels out of reach. 

Pop artist Conan Gray just released a new album titled Wishbone (2025) on Aug. 15, 2025. This album has gained an insane amount of traction, especially after he sang one of its most popular songs at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), and videos of the performance went viral on social media. 

On Sept. 15, 2015, independent game developer Toby Fox released Undertale and instantly changed the world of video games. To celebrate the passing of Undertale’s 10th anniversary just a few weeks ago, people should learn about the history and impact of the game.

This past summer we finally were able to seal the Honmon. In June, Netflix released KPop Demon Hunters (2025), an animated musical fantasy film that quickly became the biggest hit of the summer. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation and directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, this bold and colorful movie captured hearts worldwide and showed just how powerful the mix of K-pop and animation can be when done correctly.

If you have ever heard of a YouTuber who goes by the name “psychicpebbles” (known in the civilian world as Zach Hadel), who has been active as a creator and animator since 2011, you probably already know about the Adult Swim series Smiling Friends (2022- ).

This August for pop star Taylor Swift, there was more than “salt air” she sings about in her song titled August. On Aug. 26, 2025, she acknowledged this love in the air and announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.

While you are walking around campus, you might notice more than a few scattered, white and blue stickers that read “WGSU 89.3.” They can be found on the stairwell to the MacVittie Union, the silver letters outside Monroe Hall, and so many other hidden places. If you are anything like me, you probably see them, wonder what their deal is, and then proceed on your way to Mary Jemison dining hall.

On Sept. 14, 2025, the young debut actor Owen Cooper won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his portrayal of Jamie Miller in the Netflix series Adolescence (2025)—making history at just 15 years old. Owen Cooper now holds the title of the youngest winner of a Primetime Emmy Award in history.

I recently watched one of my favorite television shows and stumbled upon the last episode of the season. Hoping to continue my binge, I looked for an answer, and realized the next season was yet to be released but promised to be coming soon! These words deceived me, as I presumed that it would come out by the end of 2025. Wrong! It is coming out in November of 2026.
