American country singer and songwriter Ella Langley seemed to blossom out of nowhere as she has quickly took the country music industry by storm, capturing the hearts of country music lovers and cowboys with her southern charm. Langley got her boot in the door of fame through the release of her first album, Hungover, on Aug. 2, 2024. You may have first heard of her through the album’s breakthrough hit, “You Look Like You Love Me” with Riley Green. Since then, she definitely made a name for herself in the country industry, but she has also recently gained a dedicated and viral community of male fans online who call themselves  “Ella Fellas.”

TikTok is where Langley first shared her music with the world, using the pandemic as a time to livestream and share snippets of songs she was writing. She quickly gained a large following, and, after sharing her song “If You Have To,” Sony Music Nashville reached out to sign her for a publishing deal, according to MusicRow. On Feb. 17, 2023, Langley had her debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry, immediately enticing the audience with a new country voice and vibe, a raspy but charming drawl that perfectly combines modern country and southern rock.

Langley is known for creating “talking songs” which blend traditional storytelling with country rock. The unique rasp and grit of her voice supports her unfiltered songwriting, bringing a raw edge to her songs. This can be heard in her major hit, “Choosin’ Texas,” released Oct. 12, 2025 and co-written with country star Miranda Lambert. This song gained a 20-week milestone of No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, keeping fans excited to hear the rest of the hits which would accompany this song on the release of her sophomore album, Dandelion (2026).

It was around the time that “Choosin’ Texas” was released, that the fandom term, “Ella Fella” took flight and gained significant traction online. It was soon used by public figures, sports teams, and many other male country fans online who posted videos of themselves enthusiastically supporting Langley’s music. One trend found on TikTok displays a man claiming that they are not an “Ella Fella” before they abruptly belt out the emotional lyrics of one of her songs.

This term has gained popularity because it gives a unique voice to the brawny and bearded men who may look tough and mean on the outside, but who have a soft spot for soulful and honest music like Langley’s. They may be unexpected fans, but they seem to just be happy to be a part of a fan club that lets them be men while also letting them openly embrace some catchy and whimsy country tunes.

As this slang term spread across TikTok, famous celebrities such as Kevin Bacon, Luke Grimes, Theo Von, J.B. Mauney, and even the whole Dallas Stars NHL Team have adopted the term and publicly declared their support for Ella on several social media platforms. Langley even went to the extent of making custom merch labeled “Ella Fellas” for the NHL team after they shared that “Choosin’ Texas” was their unofficial anthem, played repeatedly in locker rooms and on flights. Fans were also thrilled by the recent announcement that Langley and Morgan Wallen would be releasing a song together on Friday, Apr. 24, according to an article on Billboard Not only has Ella Langley solidified her spot in the hearts of many loyal fans, she also has been named the new “Queen of Country”, according to an article on Yahoo Entertainment. We can only expect great upcoming things from her.

With this viral fanbase already behind her, it was no surprise that Dandelion (2026) quickly became number one on the album charts according to Billboard. The album has satisfied fans in highlighting Langley's honest, raw, and distinct singing and songwriting. Langley proves that she is able to stay connected to the traditional country of her Alabama roots all while mixing it with modern country and southern rock.

Her music is enthralling to many because she reveals emotions and thoughts that are free spirited, bold, and truthful. The album Dandelion (2026) follows themes of growth, inward reflection, dreams, and finding joy again. It is the perfect album for the season of spring, highlighting rebirth and renewal. The magic of Langley’s music is that she is able to bring together many versatile listeners and country music fans. From bull-riding cowboys to heartbroken hockey players to young girls experiencing love for the first time, her music encompasses emotions that every human feels and her sweet voice is the perfect comfort to those listening and relating.
