Fans have spent a long five years waiting and wondering when the return of their beloved fantasy family will come back. Ever since Sarah J. Maas’s last book, A Court of Silver Flames was released in 2021, focused on Nesta Archeron, fans have been expecting a sixth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, sometimes called ACOTAR, that would follow the third Archeron sister, Elain, hoping that we could get her side of this story and perspective of this magical world. A Court of Silver Flames left many unanswered questions about the middle sister, as she became a Fae, rejected her mating bond with Lucien, and started forming a relationship with Azriel. These curiosities and many more were finally discussed on the Call Her Daddy (2018- ) podcast that aired Mar. 4, 2026, when Sarah J. Maas announced release dates for the next two books in the ACOTAR series.

Podcast host Alex Cooper spent almost two hours with Maas addressing fantasy fans' crazy predictions for future books, asking lingering questions from the last books, gossiping over the fictional characters we have grown to love and hate, and discussing Maas’s personal and intimate writing process. The podcast is definitely one worth listening to, but here I will give you the simple breakdown of what Maas spilled about her process of returning to Prythian.

Maas shared the news that the sixth book of the ACOTAR series will be published on Oct. 27, 2026 and the seventh will be released on Jan. 12, 2027, according to an article on Business Insider The one thing that fans can definitely count on with these two parts, is that they will be long and they will be tying up a lot of loose ends from previous novels.

During the podcast, Maas shares that the novels will not follow the usual book format because this one cohesive story will be split up into four parts. According to the same article on the Business Insider, she shares, “Like, what if [this book] took me more than a thousand pages to tell the story that needed to be told, the arc that I wanted to create from start to finish?” With this insight, fans are left to excitedly wonder which story Maas is spending all this time writing about. We may have expected the next novel to be from Elain’s point of view, but Maas chooses to keep fans wondering by refusing to share the novel’s titles, covers, and point of view. According to an article in The New York Times, she comments that the narrator she chose for these books surprised her, but that  The story that was ready to come out of me was big.”

Ever since the Call Her Daddy (2018- ) podcast, the internet has blown up with excitement and anxious energy at getting to soon be brought back into the romantic world that Maas has beautifully created. Fans have been busy making guesses about this sixth book over the internet, reflecting on the large number of theories, relationships, tropes, and characters that Maas could explore from the ACOTAR world. Some fans are speculating that Maas could completely surprise us and give us the story from Mor’s point of view, highlighting her romance with Emerie. Others believe that it will be a chance for Maas to redeem Tamlin, focusing more on his complicated backstory. But, no matter whose point of view the novel is from, fans are united in hoping for more Azriel, and more spice.

The Call Her Daddy (2018- ) podcast continues to give fans what they have been waiting for as Maas reveals what she believes the most romantic moment in ACTOAR is, (Rhys and Feyre at Starfall obviously), what she listens to while she is writing (surprisingly the soundtracks to The Batman (2022) and KPop Demon Hunters (2025), and answers to questions focused on mating bonds, adaptation rights, characters’ personal struggles, and her other series: Throne of Glass and Crescent City. During the interview, Maas also discusses her own life and how her traumatic birth experience and mental health journey has majorly influenced the story she has written for Feyre.

This podcast left fans overjoyed, having a set release date and more knowledge on what they can expect for the highly-anticipated return of the ACOTAR series. As Maas speaks on the time she has devoted to these novels, characters, and fantastical world, fans know for certain that these books will be filled with Maas’s best and will definitely have been worth the wait. All in all, as Maas prepares readers to return to Prythian, a world full of everlasting magic, epic love, and legendary stories, she states on an Instagram post, “I truly hope it feels like coming home for you like it did for me.”
