This past weekend, women’s club rugby attended the Upstate NY Collegiate Rugby Conference (UNYCRC). Here, they played against Siena College, the University at Rochester, SUNY Cortland, and Clarkson University.

The 2025 March Madness tournament is unique compared to previous years, as for the first time since 2008, all four one-seed teams will represent their regions in the final four. The four teams in question are the Auburn Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Florida Gators, and Houston Cougars.

The Geneseo men’s hockey team has met expectations and risen to every challenge that has come their way during this spectacular season. In what was unquestionably their biggest game of the season, the Ice Knights were set to battle the top seed in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC), the Utica Pioneers, for the conference championship on Saturday, Mar. 8, in Utica.  

Players are bound to get injured every season, no matter the sport. It is simply the way of the game. Injuries can cause teams to tank astronomically. A single key player going down can derail a championship run, disrupt team chemistry, and force unexpected lineup changes. The impact of injuries extends beyond just the athletes, they influence coaching strategies, fan expectations, and even front-office decisions.

On Mar. 9, the Geneseo Women’s rugby team traveled to Alfred University to play in a friendly competitive tournament, facing off against Nazareth University, SUNY Brockport, and SUNY Fredonia. The Warthogs played in three 14-minute seven-a-side rugby games and came out victorious in all games. 

Now that every National Football Conference (NFC) team has a move recommended for the offseason, it is time for the American Football Conference (AFC) to receive one. Here is one move the bottom eight teams of the AFC should make to better their roster for the 2025 season and beyond.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) is midway through its second season, and the storylines just keep coming. The PWHL Takeover Tour has helped to expand the scope of women’s professional hockey and, along with it, the conversation about the sport’s future.

Expectations were high for the Geneseo Ice Knights going into their United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) semifinal matchup against the Manhattanville Valiants. Fortunately for Geneseo and their faithful following, the Knights continued their phenomenal play with a 5-2 victory on Saturday, Mar. 1, at the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena. 

On Saturday, Feb. 26, the Women’s Basketball team won their third and final game in the Empire 8 Tournament with a 66-63 lead for a close game. This means the team will be moving on to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament. The Knights played an exciting game at SUNY Brockport, which brought them one step closer to a four-game winning streak. 

On Saturday, Mar. 1, the 2025 National Hockey League (NHL) Stadium Series took place at the infamous Ohio Stadium between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Detroit Red Wings. The Stadium Series is one of the events that players and fans alike look forward to every year.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Women’s Basketball team faced up against the number seven seed in the Empire 8 Tournament, Alfred University, for the Quarterfinal game on home turf this weekend and came out victorious. 

On Feb. 23, the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Los Angeles Kings held a “Skate for LA Strong: A Celebration to Support the Fire Recovery Efforts in Los Angeles,” at the Crypto.com Arena to support recovery efforts from the Los Angeles (LA) wildfires.

The Ice Knights’ last two regular season games were against Nazareth University. The first game against Nazareth on Friday, Feb. 21, was senior night at the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena. Geneseo put on a show for the home crowd and ended up downing the Golden Flyers 9-1. 

In part one of “One offseason move for every NFL team,” every team in the bottom half of the National Football Conference (NFC) rankings were suggested a move that would improve their team going into the 2025-2026 National Football League (NFL) season. The bottom half of the rankings are typically teams in a “rebuilding” stage, with either a high draft pick, a ton of cap space, or both. The top half of the rankings is typically a different story.

The National Hockey League (NHL) replaced its traditional All-Star Game with the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament, a best-on-best competition featuring the top players from the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Finland, representing their home countries. This star-studded event captivated the hockey world, generating major headlines and drawing massive viewership.

The 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament went underway on Feb. 12, with the best of the best players from the National Hockey League (NHL) competing for their respective home countries of the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Finland. By far, the best storyline to come out of it so far was in the first nine seconds of the United States versus Canada game.
