Sunday Night Hockey
Sunday night's game versus the Morrisville Mustangs was one that many will not soon forget. This game was not only played on youth hockey night, but senior night, acknowledging the future generation of hockey players while honoring the seniors that are moving on in their careers. A broad range of emotions came up in this game, but the Ice Knights did what they do best and came out on top!
Who is Anna?
When you open Yik Yak, you may see a whole bunch of posts, ranging from, “Anna please play…”, “10/10 music taste,” “Anna, can you aux at afters?”, “Is Anna on aux?”, and so on. One post that sticks out more than most asks simply, “Who’s Anna?” That is a great question—who is Anna, and why is everyone posting about her once a week?
Senior Spotlight ft. Levi Wunder
It is unbelievable to see Geneseo’s ice hockey season slowly come to an end—it feels like just yesterday there was only one side of the bleachers was open for seating. Just as we watched the Ice Knights work their hardest in every game they played, we must thank the team’s seniors who carried the season. As much as I would love to interview every single senior on this team, I had to pick only one to interview.
Nintendo announces Wii Sports sequel for Switch
Nintendo’s 2006 video game Wii Sports has generated a great deal of nostalgia over the past five years, in part thanks to social media platforms like TikTok, where users frequently upload catchy audio clips from the classic game and repurpose their tunes for comedic purposes. With such an outcry of retroactive tenderness, Nintendo would be foolish not to take advantage of the familiar format with their new console, the Nintendo Switch.
Predicting the Super Bowl Winner With Tarot
Super Bowl season is upon us, and the classic question of odds looms above football fans near and far—who will win? This year, I’ve decided to tackle this daunting query without statistics or research, but by consulting the spiritual and using the ancient art of tarot to get to the bottom of it all.
Throwback Hockey Coverage: Heated on Ice
Saturday night’s (Dec. 11 2021) game was something else. The Geneseo Knights and the Elmira Soaring Eagles both brought their A-game and had a jolly feast. Elmira stood second in the division at 8-3-1 and Geneseo at 11-0-1. Walking into the rink’s atmosphere, anyone could feel that this game was going to get heated.
The Relentless Mistreatment of NFL Cheerleaders
The National Football League is, at least administratively, a man’s world. With a nearly all-male coaching staff (there are currently 12 female coaches, ranging from position coaches to interns) and male players populated the league’s publicity, the NFL is surely aware of its status as an organization for and by men. Yet one of the most iconic aspects of major league football is perhaps its most feminine—the cheerleaders.
Player spotlight with freshman goalie Adam Harris
With the hockey season coming up and everyone eager to go to the games and watch the gloves drop, who wouldn’t be excited. With a little preview of how this upcoming season will be, the Lamron was given the honor to interview our freshman goalie Adam Harris. He is very excited to play his first season here for the Knights.
NFL 2021-22 season outlook
The NFL reopening. This season the NFL more closely resembles something from the pre-covid era. The stands are full, and all that is heard is the cheering of the fans. There is a sense of normalcy when watching the new season. It is almost reassuring to see it.
Last year, the NFL games seemed like something from another world. The stands were empty, and you could hear the teams in their huddle. There was much more of a somber tone and in many ways, it was just a reminder of how different the world was and in many ways is still.
Wednesday Night Lights
The soccer game was decorated with cotton candy skies and a crisp fall breeze. Oh yeah, speaking of breezes—there goes freshman midfielder Stefen Nikolic breezing by the Alfred Saxons defense and scoring the very first goal of the game for the Knights! With just five minutes in the first half, Nikolic didn’t let anyone stop him as he pushed through the crowded offensive zone and shot the ball to the top left corner of the net. What a great way to start off tonight’s game.
Nights Like this, I’m a Knight Like This
Tuesday’s men’s soccer game versus the Rochester Yellowjackets was something to see: the match, going into two overtime periods, left everyone in the stands on the edge of their seats. These boys held their own and didn’t give up—something us Knights take pride in.
