Chris Drury has officially been shown the door, leaving the New York Rangers. Fans voted to replace Drury with a cardboard cutout of Henrik Lundqvist, because honestly, what’s the worst that could happen?

In some breaking news, it has been reported that the infamous New York Rangers (NYR) General Manager Chris Drury has been fired. This news comes as no surprise to fans after his noticeably shitty trade decisions in recent seasons.

Fans stormed Madison Square Garden in excitement after the news was revealed, and reportedly, started smashing the ice with pickaxes. Alongside this, fans have taken to Instagram, with one fan writing, “This has been a long time coming, I am glad they finally got rid of that asshole. Maybe the Rangers will start winning now.”

Drury has been hated by fans for years because he has been known to make poor trade decisions. One of these decisions came over the summer when he traded longtime NYR player Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks. Kreider was drafted by the New York Rangers in 2009, according to USA Hockey, and was a fan favorite–a true asset for the team. Many fans believed that they would eventually take on the role of captain for the NYR, so his departure from the team came as a huge shock to many. When asked how he feels about Drury being fired, he said, “He had it coming…He has no sense of loyalty to the team and I am glad to see that guy gone.”

Kreider is not the only player to speak out since Drury’s career came to an end. Former New York Rangers legend, Henrik Lundqvist, gave a jaw-dropping interview with reporters on his pleasure upon hearing the news. He said, “He ruined the Rangers, all he does is ruin the team. Losing him will only benefit the guys, and they have a real chance at winning the cup with him and his crappy decisions gone.” He also went on to add, “I am glad to see him gone and I wish nothing but the best for the team going forward.”

Drury has remained pretty silent since the news broke, but he broke that silence earlier this week. When out on a leisurely stroll with his friends, he was overheard saying, “I hate that fucking team, and they are such idiots for firing me.” When the reporter approached him and asked for further comment, Drury spilt his water on him and declined to comment.

Not everyone is pleased with the decision to fire Drury. Adam Fox spoke up on the general manager's departure by saying, “Damn. They are going to trade me now.” Adam Fox is one of the most annoying players on the team; he only plays well when he feels like it—which is never. Now that Drury is gone, there could be a chance that Fox will finally get traded.

If you thought the news that Drury was getting fired was crazy, it was also announced that he was fired partially because of his involvement with other teams in the NHL. Allegedly, Drury was collecting money from other teams in exchange for ensuring that the Rangers lost. He was working with teams such as the New York Islanders—one of the NYR’s biggest rivals. After accepting these monetary bribes, Drury would trade key players like Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider, while also messing with the equipment in the locker room to set the team up for failure.
