In a move absolutely no one saw coming, A.J. Brown was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Philadelphia Wings, proving that in this offseason, not even switching sports is off the table.

A.J. Brown has finally spread his wings; however, his flight is a considerably short one. The National Football League (NFL) offseason has been abuzz with rumors of trades and roster movements, and one of the more persistent ones has been in regards to the Philadelphia Eagles’ star wide receiver. Ever since the loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs, Brown’s departure from the Eagles was only a matter of time, as his frustrations with the team throughout the season seemed to indicate. It can now be reported that A.J. Brown has found a new, albeit surprising, home.

The Philadelphia Eagles have dealt A.J. Brown to another team that calls the city of Brotherly Love home, this team being the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The deal sends the wide receiver to a struggling Wings team, which currently sits at the bottom of the NLL standings, with a record of 3-11 as of Mar. 22. The deal has sent shockwaves across not just the NFL but the entire sporting world at large, with many major outlets and sports insiders asking just how this deal went down.

The Eagles addressed this shocking deal in a statement released to the press shortly after the news broke, which stated that “We honestly just wanted him off the team as quickly as possible. A deal within the NFL wasn’t materializing, so we just said ‘fuck it’ and posted an ad on Craigslist for A.J. Brown. The Wings were just the first to respond.” The Eagles sent Brown to the Wings in exchange for two first-round picks in the NLL draft.

Brown, when asked to comment on the groundbreaking deal, responded with understandable surprise. In a press conference the day following the announcement of the deal, the Super Bowl-winning receiver stated, “Wait, what? I mean, at least I don’t have to move that far.” The receiver from Ole Miss concludes his time with the Eagles, having over 1,000 receiving yards in all four of his seasons with the team, scoring 32 total touchdowns in those four years.

A.J. Brown arrives in Philadelphia with the hopes of turning around a struggling Wings team, which, in their most recently played game against the Oshawa Firewolves, only scored six goals against Oshawa’s 11. The loss dropped the Wings to the bottom of the NLL standings, well beyond the threshold of playoff contention, which teams such as the Saskatchewan Rush and Vancouver Warriors have already achieved (both having 11-4 records).

This move is just one of many made by the Philadelphia Wings in recent weeks, having made deals within the NLL itself with teams such as the Rochester Nighthawks, Ottawa Black Bears, and Buffalo Bandits. The Wings acquired a 2027 second-round draft pick from Rochester; forward Travis Longboat and a 2026 third-round pick from Ottawa; and forward Lukas Nielsen and a 2026 second-round pick from Buffalo. Following these moves, the Wings heldeight picks in the first 30 selections in the next two NLL drafts.

Though this deal may be unconventional and no doubt shocking to the world of professional athletics, if A.J. Brown’s career so far has taught fans and analysts anything, it’s that he will no doubt rise to the occasion and be both the leader and playmaker any team needs in order to get over the hump and achieve championship glory.
