This summer, The Lamron’s talented e-board spent a lot of time engaging with our favorite pieces of media. Whether it be the latest hit movie or a thrilling book, we kept our minds busy during the break. After some reflection, here are some of our favorites!
Over the break, so many spectacular movies were brought to the big screen and our list would be incomplete without starting off by mentioning a few. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) was definitely a fan favorite—both in our office and with the world. When speaking about the movie, one of our editors said, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) was fully a phenomenal film. The MCU has been a bit hit or miss as of late, but [this movie] really restored my faith!” Many could argue that this might have been one of the best movie releases from the summer.
Another movie that gained a lot of attention was Obsession (2026). Something that stood out to many fans was the influx of new actors within the film, which is always refreshing to see. Obsession (2026) was the perfect amount of scary, while also representing a poignant message. Bear left many viewers divided with his controversial actions, with the ending raising many questions to contemplate. Whether you loved or hated this film, you cannot deny that it carries a message that needs to be taken more seriously by society.
One thing that our e-board has in common is that we all truly love music! Zara Larsson seemed to be a hit this summer and one of our favorite songs by her is “Midnight Sun.” Her music can truly turn your mood around and get you excited to enjoy a hot, summer day! Any song by Zara Larsson perfectly captures the spirit of summer and it's hard not to give her music a listen to in the summer.
Now, it would not be a complete music list without mentioning some older music. One of our top artists this summer was Elton John, with “Rocketman” being a favorite song. Fleetwood Mac, Lorde, and Lana Del Rey also received a lot of popularity from this e-board. One e-board member mentioned, “I was on a Lana Del Rey vibe. It always feels very ‘I’m-driving-at-night-by-the-lake-with-the-windows-down-and-everything-is-beautiful-and-complicated.”’
It seems that a few of our e-board members decided to binge watch Supernatural (2005-2020) over the break. One editor commented that the show intrigued them because they “ love it when shows have their own spin on Christian Mythology.” While another editor mentioned that they “ think any season after [season 5] sucks and there’s something so special about watching the early seasons during the heat of summer.”
The Lamron e-board certainly loves a good cop-based show. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-2021) was a hit in the office—it provides the perfect amount of comedic relief needed after a long day. Alongside that, Criminal Minds (2005-present) has to be one of the greatest shows of all time. With a talented cast and lovable characters, it is truly hard to hate this show!
Overall, this summer was filled with great movie releases, thrilling shows, and throwback music. Our e-board enjoyed using the summer break to catch up on all of our favorite pieces of media and we look forward to continuing to share our recommendations with each other!
