What can you do if you’re not a fan of parties?

With Halloween coming up this weekend, there will be a number of ways to celebrate. One of the most popular ways is by heading out to a party, which is a great way to dress up and have a fun night out with your friends! That said, parties are not for everyone. Not to worry, though! If you are not a fan of parties, The Lamron can suggest plenty of fun ways to celebrate the spookiest night of the year.
If you have access to a car, one great way to celebrate would be gathering some friends and going out to the Strong National Museum of Play. Tonight, on Oct. 30, they are hosting a night for only people over 18 from 8 to 11 p.m. This will be known as Trickz 4 Treats, and those who attend will have the opportunity to come in costume, play trivia games, win prizes, and so much more. This is the museum’s first time hosting such an event, and it is sure to be a wonderful time!
Of course, there is always the classic way to celebrate Halloween, and that is trick-or-treating! In spite of what those who have no whimsy will try to tell you, there is no age limit for trick-or-treating. There is nothing wrong with dressing up and having a nice walk around your neighborhood while also getting candy. A bunch of the areas right off Main Street will hand out candy for trick-or-treaters, so this is something you can walk to. Wegmans, too, has a trick-or-treating event from 5 to 7 p.m. involving donuts and cider for something a little earlier.
One member of the The Lamron staff suggested “reverse trick-or-treating” as a great way to spend Halloween. You could get in your costume (or not) and drop off little care packages at dorms of friends or even people you don’t know. Think of how you would brighten someone’s night!
Of course, having a night in is also a great option! You could invite your friends over to all hang out in your costumes, or maybe even some cozy Halloween PJs. From there, there is a plethora of great Halloween traditions you could do.
One of the best of these traditions is a movie marathon! Maybe you could watch scary movies all night long, or maybe just some of your favorite feel-good Halloween movies. One of our staff members here at The Lamron has a list of movie recommendations that you could try, which include Fright Night (1985), Frankenweenie (2012), and Scream (1996).
While a movie is in the background, you could even play some board games together, or maybe do a Halloween craft. This could include carving pumpkins or making paper Halloween decorations, like spooky paper-cut spider webs or ghosts, or a Halloween gnome out of socks.
Another great thing to do on a Halloween night in with your friends would be to make some Halloween themed snacks! Members of The Lamron staff had a bunch of suggestions for some spooky treats to make. There are the classics, of course, like pumpkin seeds and cupcakes with festive icing, as well as candy apples and popcorn with caramel and Halloween sprinkles. You could even really get into the spirit with “mummy dogs” which are an easy-to-make finger food like pigs in a blanket, or “Halloween floats” which are a cup of Fanta with a scoop of ice cream on top.
A quiet night on your own is also a great way to spend Halloween. Grab yourself a bag of candy, put on some spooky tunes, and have a relaxing night. Whichever way you choose to celebrate, The Lamron staff wishes you a happy Halloween, and hopes you have a great night!
