The start of football season is a joyous time, especially for the Bills fans on campus. Delicious snacks can make the season even better. This simple buffalo chicken dip recipe can be made without a slow cooker in less than an hour.

If there is one thing that all members of The Lamron can agree upon, it is that senior psychology major Emma Mincer is what makes our office an incredible place to be in. Over the last several years, Mincer has been an integral part of The Lamron. As a final tribute to her time as our managing editor, we have the incredible opportunity to share her experiences with the rest of the Geneseo community. 

The struggles of starting a small business are often overlooked, but advertising and selling products is much harder than it may seem on the surface. Going to school and getting an education adds an extra level of difficulty to the maintenance of a small business. The Geneseo School of Business recognizes this, which is why they host events to help boost local student-run small businesses. 

The time has finally come. After three years of unyielding labor, unwavering devotion, and innumerous sacrifices, senior English major Frances Sharples, The Lamron’s beloved editor-in-chief, is retiring their title and moving on to a sea of opportunities as they prepare for their graduation.

As a school without an art department or film major, creative cinematic opportunities for Geneseo students are sometimes hard to come by. Luckily, the Insomnia Film Festival is an annual tradition that film minors, actors, writers, and overall movie buffs can look forward to as a chance to engage with the Geneseo community innovatively and originally.

In honor of April being National Volunteer Month, many organizations on campus have chosen to do service projects. This past weekend, an event called “Geneseo Goes to Town” occurred on Saturday, Apr. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day of service is an annual tradition that connects volunteers with local community projects in all 17 towns and 9 villages in Livingston County.  This day is a collaborative effort between the Center for Community, Livingston CARES, and Alpha Phi Omega.

Geneseo students campus-wide were treated last week to event after event in celebration of Earth Day on Apr. 22. First, on Apr. 17, Green Environmental Org (GEO) hosted Earth Fest on the Union patio, which featured not only catering from Cosmic Charlie’s Cafe and tabling from a number of student eco-friendly organizations, but sets from a number of Geneseo’s acapella performers. Then, on Apr. 19, an Open Compost Run was hosted in the eGarden, where any student could participate in the weekly compost pick-up. 

Spanking is often one of the first elements of kink that comes to mind when BDSM enters a conversation. This is partly due to its common portrayal in BDSM scenes in books, television shows, and movies. For years, The Lamron has been lucky enough to experience and engage with the many talents of senior English creative writing major Matt Keller and senior adolescent English education major Carly Burgio. As our final send-off of these two fantastic editors, writers, and dear friends, we wanted the Geneseo community to get to know the sides of Keller and Burgio that we here at The Lamron have come to know and love.

The Latino Student Association (LSA) is hosting their annual cultural dinner, Sabor Latino on Saturday, Apr. 29th at 5:30 p.m. The cultural dinner will take place in the MacVittie College Union Ballroom with a formal dress code. Tickets will be on sale all of next week with prices at $6 for students, $7 for staff/faculty and $8 for anyone else. The theme of the dinner will be 1920s speakeasy, with a murder mystery play that will be performed by the LSA e-board and written by LSA’s choreographer, Jonell Maldonado. If you are a fan of murder mysteries and everything 1920s, then this cultural dinner is for you.

Senior English major Joe Morgan has had an unconventional college journey, to say the least. At almost 40 years old, Morgan made the brave decision to pursue a college degree and explore his passion for English literature after being barred from higher education at an early age. 

As we dive into the world of kinky sex basics, aftercare and subspace are two very important terms to know in any partnership—but first, let’s review: kinky sex, or as it is commonly called, BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadism, masochism), is introduced into sexual relations to create a safe power imbalance between partners. This puts one partner in the position of power, or dominance, over the other, who is submissive. Due to this power imbalance, the submissive partner can exit a scene feeling exhausted, and may need to recover after a particularly intense scene: this is where aftercare comes in.

On Saturday, Apr. 8, Geneseo’s Original Xpression dance group, otherwise known as OGX, took the Wadsworth Auditorium by storm for their seventh annual showcase. In an incredible display of talent, all of the members of OGX contributed to what was a night to remember for all in attendance—dancers and audience members alike. 

Picture this: it’s 11:45 p.m. on a Monday; most students are studying, sleeping, or binge-watching Netflix. This is not the case in Nassau Hall, where a ‘“bathtism” is about to be performed. During this procedure, a group of oddly dressed students parade through the basement of Nassau, some of whom are about to be “enlightened” by the bath. In the front of the pack is Max Worden, first-year theater major, Nassau Hall resident, Southside boy, and “founding father” of bathtisms.
