Shakti’s Diwali Dinner: Celebrating the Festival of Lights
On Saturday, Nov. 5, Geneseo’s South Asian club, Shakti, presented their annual Diwali Dinner at the Interfaith Center. The dinner is hosted each year to celebrate the Festival of Lights, a religious and cultural festival celebrated widely throughout India.
The first annual HalloWelles was a success!
On Halloween night, members of Sigma Tau Delta (the English Honors Society) gathered together and put on SUNY Geneseo’s first “HalloWelles,” a literary-themed, spook-tastic walk through the upstairs of Welles.

Sustainability Union Takeover: Growing a greener Geneseo
On Friday Oct. 28, Geneseo organizations and subcommittees focused on campus sustainability hosted a “takeover” in the MacVittie College Union and College Union Programming Space (CUPS) from 11 a.m .– 3 p.m. Among the organizations that participated in the event were Food Security Advocates, Geneseo Environmental Organization (GEO), and Genny Thrift, which hosted a sale throughout the takeover.
Invasion of Privacy: Wisdom from Brian Malgieri
Typically, the “Invasion of Privacy” Knights’ Life feature zeroes in on the life and perspective of a faculty, staff member, or student in the Geneseo community. The students interviewed are typically starting their undergraduate degree closely following their graduation from high school, and have the general Geneseo background of growing up somewhere in New York before choosing Geneseo for their higher education. These pieces thus rarely feature a student who strays from these norms in their journey to Geneseo, such as first-year English major Brian Malgieri, a self-identified adult student who recently got involved with The Lamron and the Geneseo campus community at large.
The Black Student Union’s annual haunted house
On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Black Student Union (BSU) hosted a Haunted House in the Union ballroom; the haunted house is an annual attraction that provides a safe, spooky Halloween activity for Geneseo students.

Because we caught up to Scorpio season last year when I first started writing zodiac articles, I decided to take a different approach to Scorpio season—instead of giving a general overview of this astrological sign and what its peak might mean for Scorpios and non-Scorpios alike, I wanted to give a sign-by-sign horoscope to guide you through the month. If you are involved with civic engagement, politics, or bagel appreciation at SUNY Geneseo, it’s more than likely that you’ve crossed paths with senior international relations major Tim Rainis. Rainis, a man of charm, wit, and high-brow living is constantly looking to uplift and improve the Geneseo community, whether that comes in the form of educating students about local government or directing them to the best gumbo at a local fundraiser.
The Title IX Office kicks off the Love Shouldn’t Hurt Campaign
Last Friday, Oct. 14 the Title IX Office held their annual Love Shouldn’t Hurt Campaign, raising awareness about sexual violence, resources for survivors on and off campus, and raising money for local support organizations. The event started on the College Green, where students had the opportunity to sign the pledge to prevent sexual and dating violence, receive a free t-shirt, and put their handprint on the Love Shouldn’t Hurt banner. The event was followed by a walk around campus, where students held the banner in support of survivors. The walk ended at the Greek Tree, where students painted messages of support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Navigating open relationships
College creates an opportunity for students to explore sex in safe and accepting spaces. It is a time where students can discover how sex fits into their lives, as well as learn new things about themselves and their bodies; however, finding yourself while in a long-term relationship can be difficult for many students. Wanting an open relationship with a partner can seem like a daunting task, but as long as proper communication is used, it can be a great opportunity for those wanting to learn more about themselves.

Some dissatisfied students were moved by the food served by CAS, and created an Instagram called @5chefs2dininghalls last November. This group of anonymous students rate the dining hall food and spread awareness about the quality of food in the dining halls.
