David Potter is a senior communication major who is involved on campus as a member of Southside Boys, one of our campus’s many acapella groups, and has been serving as The Lamron’s comic editor for two semesters. Originally from Webster, NY, a suburb of Rochester, he notes that he really cannot remember a time when music wasn’t a part of his life. This semester, he has had the opportunity to perform as a member of the on-campus production of Tuck Everlasting, which will be his first show since before COVID-19, and feels incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to perform in one last musical before his time as a college student concludes.

Since 2022, The Lamron has been graced with Dylan Dariano’s presence; he is a senior communication major who currently serves as the copy editor. He has held several different positions within the organization and proved to be the utility man that we needed. As graduation approaches, his time with The Lamron is coming to a close, and therefore, we decided it was necessary to share his story. 

Over the past two semesters, senior finance major Camryn Marshall has served as Business Manager of The Lamron. Despite coming to SUNY Geneseo undeclared in the fall of 2020, and even stepping away from the college after her second semester, Marshall has found her place on campus and in the professional world through her efforts in leadership roles both with The Lamron and beyond.

I had the honor this week of speaking with SUNY Geneseo’s therapy dog, Michele, and her handler, Marci Frutkoff. Michele is a nine-year-old Labrador retriever who has been working at Geneseo as a therapy dog every Thursday for the past four semesters.

Joshua Taylor is a senior sociology major and Rochester native who has begun work in photography in recent years. He will be graduating from Geneseo in May, but in the meantime, has left his mark on campus with a photography exhibition.

Since the fall semester of 2002, SUNY Geneseo has been graced by the presence of Dr. Andrew Herman. Herman serves as the Chair of Communication while teaching COMN 379, a course dedicated to preparing the major’s students for life after college and future careers. Through all his work on campus, though, he still finds time for his family and leisurely activities on days off.

SUNY Geneseo’s athletic teams have taken home the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s (SUNYAC) Commissioner’s Cup for seven consecutive years. The honor, which measures the top overall athletic program in the SUNYAC conference, determines the overall winner for each given school year. To continue to have the consistent success Geneseo has, many of the teams on campus have needed to perform well for years on end. This is not any more applicable than with the men’s and women’s swim and dive teams led by head coach Paul Dotterweich.

Earlier this week I had the honor of interviewing Dr. Paul Pacheco, a Professor of Anthropology at Geneseo who has been chair of the Anthropology department, since 2014. I started the interview by giving Dr. Pacheco a chance to debunk some common misconceptions about his field. “We don't get too [many] misconceptions, probably the biggest one is people think I have something to do with dinosaurs.” Since he does not work with dinosaurs, I asked him to explain what anthropology and archaeology are. 

Hannah Myers is an English literature major here at SUNY Geneseo who is finishing out her final semester here before graduation. She has also served as the news editor for The Lamron for the past year. As a final homage, and as our way to show her how much her fellow editorial staff has appreciated her dedication and endless searching for coverage, I sat down with her to conduct a final “debrief” of her time at The Lamron and SUNY Geneseo at large. 

A self-proclaimed “southsider at heart” and senior childhood special education major Elisabeth Schumacher has served as the Lamron’s public relations manager for the past three semesters. Unfortunately for our staff at The Lamron, Schumacher is graduating and joining the adult world.

Over the past semester, The Lamron has been lucky enough to fall under the leadership of current managing editor, senior English (creative writing) major Ella Pearcy, who will graduate in December. Those who know Pearcy know that she is both stringent and silly; she assembles weekly meeting notes chalk-full of emojis and sidebars, while also effectively keeping our executive board on-track and on-time. I’ve been friends with Pearcy since our freshman year, and adored speaking with her for this Invasion of Privacy about how she has grown into such a brilliant writer, editor, friend, and human throughout her undergraduate career.

The Not Dot shop on Main Street is a popular destination for students, but did you know that the name stands for “No One Thing Does One Thing”? I sat down with the owner of this one-of-a-kind store, Marcia Podhorecki, who describes the original idea behind the store being “to create a store that sold things that were something else before,” hence the acronym in their name. 

If you have seen videos on one of Geneseo’s official social media platforms, they have almost definitely come from one person—Mat Johnson. Johnson has been the video producer within the office of college communications and marketing for over five years. But what if I told you that Johnson originally started his career as a zookeeper?
