The Title IX office is looking for interns!

Registration season is upon us. For many students, planning class schedules for the upcoming semester can be challenging and stressful, especially for the rising sophomores and juniors who may feel they are at the bottom of the totem pole during the battle of registration. If there are any students who are looking for an educational experience that is not in a typical classroom setting to fill up their credit hours during registration, you may be interested in an internship at the Geneseo Title IX office.

The internship is a three-credit class in which the interns focus on prevention education. This involves helping facilitate Title IX training for organizations, creating Instagram posts for the Title IX Instagram page, and serving as a liaison to the campus community. Interns are required to hold office hours for six hours per week in the Title IX office located in Doty Hall.

I had the privilege of being one of the eight interns this semester, and I cannot recommend this internship enough. I have a minor in women and gender studies, which is what led me to discovering the Title IX internship. I had seen Title IX tabling in the union for Valentine's Day back in spring of last year, but was unaware there were interns helping facilitate it.

I applied for the internship this past fall and heard back that I was accepted to start for this semester. Since then, I have spent a good chunk of each week sitting in the Title IX office learning, growing, and having a wonderful experience. This internship gave me the opportunity to work on a presentation for the Diversity Summit in February 2026. I got to meet Don McPherson, the keynote speaker for the Diversity Summit in 2026. I have also gotten to design advocacy stickers for Title IX to hand out at events. Right now, each of the interns are working on a game for students to play while we table in the Union. My Title IX event is two truths and a lie.

My favorite part of this experience has been getting to know all the wonderful staff and my fellow interns within the Title IX office. Abigail Ranieri, who is the RF First Year Project Director, is in charge of the internship program. Abigail is an alum of Geneseo and a former intern within the Title IX office. She brings compassion, light, and joy to the office, which makes this internship such a positive experience. I  also had the pleasure of getting to know Sara Hébert, the Title IX coordinator/Sr. Equity Compliance Officer, and Sophia Piazza, who is the RESTORE Sexual Assault Service College Advocate. Both of these women are extremely kind, and it is comforting to know that they are the people who are here to advocate for Geneseo students.

The Title IX office is housed within the Office of Diversity and Equity, meaning that I have also gotten to know the Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Rodmon King, who may or may not have been a target for the office's April Fools’ prank. Every morning I walk into the office and I am greeted by Karie Frisiras, the Administrative Assistant for Dr. King. She always greets everyone with a smile and has the greatest style. Karie will bring in Myko, the cutest therapy dog on campus, to the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. This is another perk of this internship—getting time with Myko!

If any student is interested in applying for this internship for the fall 2026 semester, you can find the application on the Title IX website. Requirements for this position are a GPA of 2.5 or higher, the ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and submission of a resume and letter of interest. Applications are due by Apr. 26, 2026.
