Lily has been an instrumental part of The Lamron's e-board, and she will be greatly missed!

As this semester comes to an end, The Lamron will have to say goodbye to many of their beloved senior e-board members. One of those members is Lily Ippolito, an English adolescent education major who will be graduating in the fall after a long semester of student teaching. Although she is not graduating at the end of this semester, student teaching is a process that takes seniors off campus and prohibits them from being involved in campus activities unless granted permission. Therefore, this is Lily’s last semester being involved with The Lamron.

Lily joined the e-board at the beginning of this semester and took on the role of Web Editor, ensuring that our website looks perfect each and every week. She spends an abundance of time uploading articles and photos, while also making sure that everything is posted by 10 a.m. on Fridays.

When reflecting on her time on The Lamron e-board, she remembers how she first heard of the campus newspaper. Through her education courses, she met Brooke Klugewicz, who happened to be a member of The Lamron e-board. Brooke encouraged Lily to get involved with the newspaper because she thought it would interest Lily, as well as being another way that the two of them could hang out. Lily is extremely pleased with her decision to step into an e-board position and says it has helped her feel more involved on campus. Lily said, “We just like goof off and it gives me a fun outlet to read other students’ work and put some of my own thoughts out there.”

One thing that Lily looks back fondly on is all of the classes that she had the privilege of taking. She is very grateful for her education and all of the experiences that she has had through her classes. Some of her favorite professors include Dr. Paku from the English Department and Dr. Rozalski from the Education Department.

Although these professors have stood out to her, she emphasized the fact that all of the professors in the English Department have truly blown her away with their expertise. As far as the Education Department, Lily recalls that taking SPED 205 with Dr. Rozalski was a very valuable experience for her. She explained that Dr. Rozalski taught her how to teach many different types of students and how to be the best teacher that she could be. Upon graduating, Lily plans on working towards her masters degree and starting her teaching career. She has looked into programs through Brockport, but has not decided where she wants to go yet.

When asked about what she feels most proud of accomplishing, she said all of the work that she has put into graduating. Lily will be graduating a semester early—which is very difficult to do as an education major since the track is so structured. She has seen an abundance of personal growth in herself since starting her college journey—especially in her writing. Lily is also a member of the English Honor Society (Sigma Tau Delta) and the Education Honor Society (Kappa Delta Pi).

When asked if she has any advice for incoming freshmen, she said, “Go to school for something that you are passionate about because then you'll want to put in the effort and the work. Go with the flow.” Lily has been a true joy to be around and she will be greatly missed at The Lamron
