The dedicated fanbase of Helluva Boss (2019- ) will surely be eager for the third season to explore all the exciting plot threads set up by the last.

On Oct. 28, 2019, a pilot titled “Hazbin Hotel” was released on YouTube. Although the full series would not come out for another five years, this was the first that audiences would see of the “Hellaverse” created by Vivienne Medrano. Currently, the Hellaverse consists of two animated musical shows depicting quite the colorful version of Hell, these shows being a fully actualized Hazbin Hotel (2019- ) and the show’s sister series, Helluva Boss (2019-).

Helluva Boss (2019- ) is an adult animated comedy that started following the misadventures of I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals), a trio of imps and one hellhound who would be paid by sinners to travel to earth and assassinate the humans who wronged their clients in life. However, the series would later spiral into a story of love—navigating all sorts of different relationships be they romantic, platonic, or familial—and a story of social class.

Helluva Boss (2019- ) and the Hellaverse as a whole has ton a world-building that makes this version of Hell stand out amongst so many other pop culture interpretations of Hell, and class seems to be a huge part of that. Imps and Hellhounds are at the very bottom of Hell’s hierarchy, and it was considered very ambitious and unusual for I.M.P.’s founder, Blitzo, to form his own business. Unfortunately, he was also technically doing so illegally (yes, Hell has laws), not having been granted official access to the human world; instead, he was secretly loaned a spellbook from an Ars Goetia, effectively Hell royalty, named Stolas.

To make matters even more complicated, Blitzo and Stolas had quite the messy relationship that was constantly teetering on the edge of romantic in nature. The two were in love, but factors such as their differing classes, their struggles in communication, and their own self-worth issues prevented them from officially taking any healthy step forward. That is, until they were forced to, with Blitzo getting caught in a scheme meant to defame Stolas; this led to the embodiments of the Seven Deadly Sins themselves nearly executing Blitzo for illegally going to Earth, only for Stolas to take the weight of his punishment. Ultimately, Stolas was stripped of his status, power, and most importantly, rights to see his daughter, Octavia.

This is where season two left off, and season three has finally come right around the corner, set to debut on Oct. 14, 2026. Based on what we can see from the official trailer, it appears that Stolas and Blitzo’s roles have been reversed, both storywise and within the confines of the series’ universe. Now, Blitzo is the one who is in a more secure place socially, and is even the one being more open about his desire to have a more serious relationship, while previously Stolas had both of those roles. However, now Stolas is much more preoccupied with the safety of Octavia, and seems to be attempting to find ways to see her. Unfortunately, based on how last season ended and the short released just before season three aired on Oct. 3, 2026, The Princess and the Pupper (2026), Octavia wants absolutely nothing to do with her father, believing him to have abandoned her for Blitzo. Already, with just the mess of these intertwined relationships, this seems like an exciting and dramatic set up for season three.

And that is not even getting into the series’ other characters. The other workers at I.M.P., the married couple Millie and Moxie, have a baby on the way, and the two assassins need to decide how to move forward because of that.

While there are certainly a lot of exciting things happening within the confines of the series for season three, there is also a lot happening in the real world, particularly regarding how the show will be streaming. While the series was previously streamed exclusively on YouTube, an article on Popverse confirms that Helluva Boss (2019- ) has been picked up by Prime Video, and season three will be premiering there; it will still be appearing for free on YouTube about a month after it appears on Prime. Even more exciting—thanks to this, Helluva Boss (2019- ) and Hazbin Hotel (2019- ) are now allowed to crossover, with the creator of both series, Vivienne Medrano, teasing the audiences that something “a little bit more than a cameo” will happen later in season three, according to an article on Polygon.

Between exciting character plot lines and promises of some sort of crossover in the future, season three Helluva Boss (2019- ) is sure to be a must-see!
