Title IX, a law banning gender discrimination in schools, is being reinterpreted once again after former President George W. Bush and his administration significantly relaxed the enforcement standards in 2005.

Although the law originally did not directly address sports, its greatest impact today is on intercollegiate athletics.
"We need to have a more comprehensive approach to how we talk about sexual assault," said senior Isobel Connors, who has helped to plan the grassroots movement toward an organized teach-in.

As a result, students hoping to become teachers in New York can opt not to attend graduate programs at conventional universities, instead choosing to receive certification through these alternative programs.

This year presented Geneseo with some very serious challenges.

In the throes of a dismal economic climate, each of SUNY's 64 campuses has found itself in the same situation as nearly every individual, municipality, corporation and nation. In the struggle to meet financial commitments, cuts must be made: cuts to programs, cuts to payroll, cuts to utilities, cuts to investments in the future.

One would think that after copy editing countless articles this year and last, writing a cogent lede would be second nature. It's impossible to boil my experiences at The Lamron down to 35 words, however. Four long years ago, as a soul-searching Geneseo freshman, I had no idea what to do with my life.

Last week's Mindless Entertainment column, "Bad and we ain't even mad," left me frustrated with its inaccuracy. While I understand it was not a full-blown opinion article, it was incompletely researched and hastily written. It is clear that the author's point is that hip-hop is becoming less offensive and possibly more respectful toward women, especially when judged against its roots in the 1980s.
Last Wednesday, a group of Geneseo students involved in Geneseo Environmental Organization scattered around the village to pick up trash. Upon collecting bags of litter, a tire and even a discarded water cooler, the students arranged it all in the fountain around midnight.

Student Association is an oligarchy. There, I said it. Eight people claim to represent the entire student body of Geneseo. Unfortunately, an oligarchy to represent 4,950 undergraduate students does not work.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the way SA business meetings function, students present readings which are discussed only by those who are able to come to the meetings.
